Copenhagen is a diverse city and each neighborhood has its own special characteristics with its own cafés, bars and restaurant. You will find cobblestone alleys, colorful cottages and unique castles - but also modern architecture, impressive harbors and hip shopping streets.
This guide will lead you through Copenhagen's neighborhoods and shows you our favorite places to eat, drink and enjoy a cozy day in Copenhagen.
In the Morning
Lets start with a early morning café recommendation in Østerbro and a little bit outside of Central Copenhagen - Reffen.
Juno Bakery in Østerbro
Østerbro is home to Fælledparken, Copenhagen's largest park, and the stadium - yet the atmosphere in the neighborhood here is very cozy and neighborly. Stroll through some of the best design shopping streets in Copenhagen or relax in one of the many cafés and bakeries like Juno Bakery. Well known for their famous cardamom buns (the city's best buns), the bakery sells delicious pastry, bread and coffee which you can either enjoy inside or outside at their garden terrace.
Lille Bakery in Refshaleøen
Lille Bakery is a small bakery and restaurant in Refshaleøen - opened in the summer of 2018 with the dream of being a place that brings people together offering delicious pastries, fresh bread and various dished for brunch and lunch. Lille bakery tries to work with farmers, fishermen and other artisans who share the belief that good quality ingredients should be there for everyone. Producers who also understand the importance of organic and local agriculture that is both fair and works in harmony with the environment. Every first Sunday of the month, there is the Green Market right next to the bakery, where you can buy local and organic vegetables, treats, flowers and drinks.
For Brunch and Lunch in the city center
In central Copenhagen, also known as Indre By, you'll find all the top sights within walking distance: the royal castles and monuments, Tivoli amusement park, colorful Nyhavn and, of course, the Little Mermaid. The lively, winding streets invite you to stroll, relax and enjoy brunch or lunch in beautiful restaurants.
Sonny is a day-time place where you can enjoy home-made breakfast, lunch and home-baked cakes along with specialty coffee, tea and cold beverages that you won't find in other places. Located in the heart of Copenhagen right next to the canals.
The number one hotspot in the heart of Copenhagen. Chef and creative Frederik Bille Brahe runs his café, Atelier September, in the beautiful front part of the building; here he serves natural food and artisanal coffee, both for breakfast and lunch and in the late afternoon. The elegant gallery space behind the bustling café serves as a project space, hosting various exhibitions and pop-ups.

Wine Bars in Nørrebro
The multicultural district of Nørrebro pulsates with life by day and by night. Some of Copenhagen's coolest and most eclectic streets can be found here. But you can also enjoy quiet moments, so a visit to the grave of Hans Christian Andersen in Assistens Cemetery is recommended. Or you visit one of the best wine bars in town.
Pompette means "tipsy," and that's exactly what you can expect at this adorable neighborhood wine bar, which serves natural wine at prices that beg for another glass. The wine bar's bare walls with only one step reflect the owners' approach to bartending: Pompette is a sober wine bar with nothing to hide and nothing to prove: Except the likeable fact that great natural wine can be served and enjoyed at reasonable prices - even in a cool bar in a popular part of town. With this concept, Pompette has quickly become a favorite in the neighborhood. Another wine bar we love is Vinhanen.
For dinner and a night out in Vesterbro
Formerly a red light district, today THE trendy district in Copenhagen with trendy fashion labels, funky bars and young, up-and-coming restaurateurs. Especially the Meatpacking District is worth a visit: Here great restaurants like Fiskebar and Gorilla, bars and clubs like Jolene and Bakken and galleries line up - all in the industrial charm of a former butcher's quarter.
For dinner and a night out in the city center
You can already start your weekend on a Thursday night when all the restaurants are turning into bars and clubs. Our favorite restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen is definitely Pluto - a must when you are visiting the city and want be in appealing restaurant with concrete pillars and an intentionally ‘unfinished’ feel. Sit at wooden tables, at the long metal bar or at communal marble-topped tables. The enticing menu is made up of an extensive selection of small plates and is accompanied by a great selection of wine or amazing cocktails.
If you feel more like Italian food, the go to place is Cantina. Henrik Laszlo and Mikkel Egelund, who are also running some of favorite and popular restaurants Pastis and Fishmarket, are behind the unpretentious Italian restaurant Cantina in Borgergade in the centre of Copenhagen. Cantina is a modern take on Italian cuisine, serving both classics and original interpretations of Italian dishes.
For drinks we recommend you to go to Dan Turell or to the electric corner and for a good party you can't miss out the Søpavillonen directly located at the Lakes or the new club in Copenhagen Museo.
We hope you enjoyed reading our guide, got inspired and have the best time in Copenhagen!
