Oahu, Hawaii, USA

 

Considered as the best place to go surfing in the United States, Oahu is a popular surfing destination and ranks at the top of every seasoned professional’s list of great surfing spots. The island, which is in fact where surfing was originally created, is especially famous for the “Pipeline” – the ultimate surfing wave.

  

  

Known as “The Queen of waves”, Pipeline is probably the most challenging of all, attracting experienced surfers from all over the world. The waves grow in size over six meters of a shallow base of razor-blade table reef. Oahu waters offers waves for all levels, though, and is also known for its breathtaking beaches, laid-back surf towns and wild nightlife.

Ericeira, Portugal

 

Located 40 km north of Lisbon, Ericeira is a delightful traditional village that sees the old Portuguese way of life mixing with the new modern surfing culture. The old town is set on cliffs and full of bustling cafés, shops, restaurants and bars.

  

  

The area has 12 different surf beaches all within 8kms, each suiting different standards, from the stunning beginners beach Foz do Lizandro to the epic fast barrelling world class Coxos. Such high class waves attract crowds and with Lisbon only a short drive away there are no shortages of surfers wanting a piece of the Ericeira action.
